The Counselor's Role
The counseling department plays a supportive role at Carrington to help ensure the social, emotional, academic, and career development of each child. Please contact us with any concerns, or visit the Guidance Suite located off of A hall.
Classroom Guidance
We conduct classroom guidance sessions that center around study tips, anti-bullying, transitioning, peer relations, and general concerns from faculty and staff. If there is a classroom guidance session you believe would be particularly beneficial for your students, please do not hesitate to contact your grade level counselor, or drop by the guidance suite.
Individual Counseling
Often times, students need additional support in navigating peer relationships, setting goals, developing coping skills, or moving past traumatic events. The Counseling Department offers individual services for students so they can develop these skills and participate in their academics without constant emotional stress, fear, or worry. We provide confidential services for students so they can have a safe and nonjudgmental environment to work through what is on their mind. If you know of a student who would benefit from these services, please contact your grade level counselor.
In your best interest, we request all students sent directly from class are accompanied with a note indicating where they were sent from and the time. This helps ensure all students are accounted for within the Carrington Middle School building, and that students do not take advantage of our services.

Group Counseling
Throughout the year we will run small group counseling sessions. This helps administer services to a larger group of students and provide a unique experience for students in a peer relational setting. Periodic needs assessments administered to students and teachers will help determine what topics need to be addressed here at Carrington. If you have a specific topic of concern, or wish to help facilitate group sessions, please contact one of us.
